An association of the Rosso diaspora
The Association des Rossossois de la Diaspora (ARD) brings together people from Rosso who live in France and beyond and have kept a strong bond with their home town: Rosso, capital of the Trarza region, on the right bank of the Senegal River, in Mauritania. Rather than each helping on their own, they chose to pool their means. A non-profit association under the French law of 1 July 1901, the ARD has its registered office in Bobigny, near Paris, and works in Rosso with the town hall and local associations.
What we do
Every action starts from a need expressed by the inhabitants and ends with a public report. Five fields complement one another: education (school refurbishment, school supplies, girls’ schooling), school meals (canteens backed by a vegetable garden), healthcare (equipping health posts, consultations, prevention), women’s empowerment (training, employment, business creation) and the living environment (sport, culture, tree planting, neighbourhood clean-ups).
A few figures: three schools in Rosso refurbished or under way, €35,500 of funding obtained since the pilot projects, 223 pupils at the Mairie B school, 128 of them girls. The details of every project, its funding and its results are published in our projects.
How we work
All the work is voluntary. Five values guide our choices, our spending and our reporting: solidarity, respect, responsibility, innovation, commitment. We publish what we do, what we spend and what it changes; our partners — La Guilde, AFD, FORIM, GRDR, AASDI, FFRIM, the municipality of Rosso — and the inhabitants alike can check it.
