Where it began
An association born of an attachment to Rosso
The ARD brings together people from Rosso living in France and elsewhere. All of them kept a strong tie to their home town. Rather than each helping on their own, they chose to pool their resources.
Since then, the association has funded and followed concrete projects in Rosso, capital of the Trarza, on the right bank of the Senegal River. Every initiative starts from a need voiced by local residents. Every budget is made public.
Our path
From idea to action
Five steps, from the founding to the role the ARD plays in Rosso today.
The founding
People from Rosso living abroad come together as an association. The aim: strengthen ties with the local community and carry weight in their town’s development.
Education first
The first efforts go to schools, health and women. The ARD renovates buildings, supplies school equipment and equips the local health posts.
Culture, sport, environment
The vision widens. The association backs sporting events, plants trees and organises neighbourhood clean-ups with the town council.
A network of partners
La Guilde, FORIM, the AFD, the GRDR and the local association AASDI join in. Their funding opens the way to more ambitious projects.
Today
The ARD is now a recognised presence in Rosso. Its school refurbishments, canteens and health initiatives have changed daily life for thousands of people.
