- The work now enters its operational phase, and the construction progress will be shared regularly with all partners and donors.
A Unifying Launch Ceremony in Tekeuch
The official launch of the rehabilitation and securing project for the Tekeuch school, in the municipality of Rosso, was an important moment of collective mobilization around the future of the village’s children. By our side, the local partner association AASDI, represented by its president Yakhoub, was deeply committed to making this event a success. Bada Diagne, Deputy Mayor of Rosso, demonstrated the engagement of the municipal authorities, while Ameth Gaye, representing our association, carried the voice of the diaspora during this day. The village chief of Tekeuch, parents, youth, and many residents all showed up, proving the strength of local commitment to education.
This strong mobilization of the population reflects the importance placed on education and everyone’s willingness to contribute to the success of this initiative. Our presence on the ground, alongside the residents of Tekeuch, is a continuation of our previous actions. We had already had the opportunity to detail the context of this project during the awarding of the Guilde grant for the Tekeuch school, a decisive step that made this launch possible.
What Improvements Are Planned for the Tekeuch School?
Our ambition for the children of Tekeuch is clear: to provide a safer, healthier school with better learning conditions. The work beginning now addresses essential needs identified in close collaboration with the local community. The project specifically includes:
- The rehabilitation of classrooms for a comfortable and suitable learning environment.
- The improvement and construction of sanitary infrastructure essential to the hygiene and health of students.
- The connection to drinking water, a vital measure for the daily lives of children and staff.
- The securing of the school perimeter through the installation of a protective fence.
- The creation of a school garden, for both educational and food purposes.
This comprehensive approach reflects our desire to act on all factors that influence schooling. As we have demonstrated in previous projects, notably the rehabilitation of the Ndiourbel school, ARD Rosso ensures that every intervention is part of a logic of sustainable development and skills transfer to local stakeholders. From building renovations to water access, each step is designed to generate a direct and measurable benefit.
A Strong Partnership Serving Local Development
The realization of this project relies on a network of committed and complementary partners. We express our deep gratitude to AASDI for its on-the-ground involvement, to the municipal and local authorities, to the village chief, and to the entire population of Tekeuch for their warm welcome. Their mobilization is the guarantee of the sustainability of the infrastructure that will be delivered.
We also extend our thanks to La Guilde and to all the technical and financial partners who make the realization of this large-scale project possible. Without their support, this mobilization in favor of education could not take shape. These alliances between the diaspora, field associations, and international funders form the foundation of harmonious development.
The Work Enters Its Operational Phase
The work will now enter its operational phase. Our commitment does not stop at the launch: we will regularly share the progress of the construction site so that everyone can follow, step by step, the transformation of the Tekeuch school. Transparency and rigorous monitoring are values we champion in every one of our initiatives.
Investing in education means building the future and development of an entire community. We call on everyone to continue supporting these solidarity actions that concretely change the daily lives of the children of Tekeuch and the municipality of Rosso in Mauritania.
